The BMS will welcome Rahul Pandharipande from ETH Zurich as an Einstein Visiting Fellow starting in 2015. An expert in moduli spaces of curves in algebraic geometry, Pandharipande will teach and do research at the BMS alongside his professorship in Zürich. The top scientist will receive 150,000 Euro in funding per year for three years.
Einstein Fellows are international scientists who complement excellent areas of research in Berlin with their expertise. They should become a long-term part of their research location and strengthen its international connections. To this end, they will spend several weeks working in Berlin at least three times a year. The annual funding of up to 150,000 Euro is for establishing a junior research group and for working on joint projects with colleagues in Berlin.
The research budget will be provided by the Damp Foundation and the State of Berlin.
