The BMS Committee is responsible for all structural, scientific, and financial decisions. It represents the BMS, controls the BMS budget, issues the BMS Certificates of Excellence, participates in final decisions about admission, and implements measures of quality control.
The BMS Committee is led by the team of Chairs. They act as the representatives of the three institutions in the BMS and coordinate the activities of the BMS with the dean of the respective departments and with the presidents of the respective universities. The BMS Chairs act on behalf of the BMS, especially towards the participating universities and the German Research Foundation, and represent the BMS externally.
The Executive Chair is responsible for managing the day-to-day together with the BMS Coordinator which includes bringing up important topics to the BMS Committee and steering any changes to regulations or BMS processes. The Executive Chair is also responsible for inviting the speakers for BMS events, such as the MATH+ Friday Colloquia and the BMS Days, and deciding on regular scholarship extensions within the planned budget. The Executive Chair holds the position for two years after which one of the other Chairs takes over.
The One-Stop Office implements the decisions by the BMS Committee and supports the BMS students in all practical issues that may arise.
