One day seminar on 1 December 2017, 10 am (sharp!) - 6pm
Trainer: Betty Boden
Your thesis is nearing completion and your studies are coming to an end. Are you clear on what happens next and what your next move is? If you are, that’s wonderful. If on the other hand you are unsure or otherwise still very much undecided, this workshop can assist you in finding answers and drawing up a draft for your future career.
Questions to ask yourself might include:
Are you aiming for a career in academia?
Do you want to go into industry?
Are you intending to set up your own venture?
Where is it you want to live and to work?
What is best suited to you and your personal values and preferences?
What are your strengths?
What is it that sets you working and sustains your effort?
In the workshop we will be looking at and identifying your personal work preferences and career anchors. You will process your insights under guidance, by means of structured exercises and groupings, thereby generating your own personal key questions for your career development and plan out steps for the future.
In order to be able to make the most of the one-day workshop, I will be sending you two weeks in advance of the workshop some guideline questions and also a questionnaire. This questionnaire needs to be completed and the results sent back to me within one week so as to give me enough time to process them for the workshop. Please note: my receiving your results in good time is vital to your taking part in the workshop.
Methodology: Short lectures, individual work, pair and group work, introspection, self-assessment, discussion sessions, sharing experience; all within the framework of a process-oriented approach.
