Hilda Geiringer (1893-1973) completed her Habilitation in Berlin in 1927 and was the first woman to hold the title of Privatdozent in applied mathematics.
The BMS awards the Hilda Geiringer Scholarship to promising female PhD students to support their mathematical research and in recognition of their outstanding potential. Each year one Phase II student is selected to receive the scholarship by the BMS Committee. The scholarship lasts for 24 months with an option to extend for an additional 12 months.

Sima received the highest possible grade "summa cum laude". Sima is now working as a research fellow at the University of Warwick.
