The main offices of the BMS administration are at TU Berlin in the Institute of Mathematics in the MATH+ central office.

The BMS also has satellite offices at the mathematical institutes of FU and HU where you may find the FU and HU Liaison Officer once a week.

The BMS offers office spaces for Phase I students at HU and TU and common lounge areas at all three universities. Here, BMS students have the opportunity to study, relax, discuss ideas over coffee and meet the staff of the BMS Office.

The BMS Lounges are not open to the public but only meant to be used by BMS students. They are therefore only accessible with a key or when the BMS office staff is present.

Unfortunately, the BMS does not have enough office space to cover all Phase I students. If you are interested in an office, please contact the respective BMS Liaison officer. If there are no spaces available, you will be put on a waiting list. If a student is not using their office space anymore or not frequently, they should give back their key so it may be used by someone else.

Phase II students are typically allocated an office or study space in their research group.

TU

TU Berlin has a BMS Lounge as part of the BMS One-Stop Office, located on the 2nd floor of the Math building. Part of the TU BMS Lounge is a computer pool for BMS students which they may also use to print course material. Students will find a small kitchen, three black boards and a communal study table. Anyone who uses the BMS lounge must leave it as they find it – there is no personnel to clean up after you. The lounge is open on weekdays, but is accessible at any time to BMS students who have been allocated an office space – and therefore a personal key - at TU Berlin. The office spaces for students at TU Berlin are shared study rooms with lockable desks located on the 3rd floor of the Math building.

HU

HU Berlin has a BMS Lounge area combined with individual office spaces and computers for BMS students, located on the ground floor of the Math Building on the HU campus in Adlershof. The lounge is accessible on a daily basis to BMS students who have been allocated an individual office at HU Berlin. Students will find a small kitchen, a big black board with space to hang out and a printer. Anyone who uses the BMS lounge must leave it as they find it – there is no personnel to clean up after you.

FU

Unfortunately, FU Berlin has no actual BMS lounge area, but offers a shared study room with personal lockers that BMS students can use during the week. It is located on the ground floor of the Pi Building on the FU campus in Dahlem.

Please note: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, restrictions in accessing the three universities may apply. Please contact the BMS One-Stop Office for up-to-date information on the accessibility of the lounge and/ or your office space.
