What information should be included in the Letter of Recommendation?

Please see this page of our website for full information: www.math-berlin.de/application/letter-of-recommendation

Can I ask a professional colleague to submit a Letter of Recommendation for me?

Both letters of recommendation should be from professors or university teachers who know you well and can vouch for your academic and mathematical abilities.

What is the deadline for the Letters of Recommendation?

The deadline for the submission of recommendation letters is one week after the online application deadline.

May I submit more than two Letters of Recommendation?

No. Only two letters of recommendation are required by the BMS, so you will only be able to enter the names of two recommenders on your online application form. Once you have entered their contact information and submitted your application electronically, the BMS will automatically send both recommenders an email asking them to upload their letters to our online application system. The deadline for recommendation letters is one week after the application deadline. Please note that letters submitted by the applicant will not be accepted.

How can I find out if the BMS has received my Letters of Recommendation?

Log in to the BMS website and click on “PhD Application Check” in the left menu bar. On the first page of your submitted application form under the heading “Status of recommendations”, you can see which recommendation letter has already been submitted. Please note that the deadline for recommendation letters is one week after the application deadline.
