Do I have to submit proof of English proficiency if I studied in English?

Applicants whose native language is not English, and applicants who have not completed their formal education in a school, college or university where English is the language of instruction, must submit proof of English proficiency in the form of a TOEFL/IELTS/CAE certificate or "Abitur Zeugnis". For full information, please read the relevant section in the BMS PhD Application Guidelines.

If the medium of instruction during your university studies is or was English, please either upload a letter from your university confirming this fact or upload a statement by yourself referring to your transcript where this information can be verified.
We download every application as one compiled pdf, therefore we ask you kindly to not upload any document such as your transcript twice.

What is the BMS TOEFL code?

We do not require a hard copy of your test result by post, therefore we no longer list our TOEFL code on our website. Please simply upload your test result to your online application form by the given deadline. As well as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), we also accept IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and CAE (Certificate in Advanced English).

Is the minimum GRE score required?

The GRE is not required by the BMS, however if you have already taken the test, then you may upload your result as an "Additional Document".
